Can I add TNT Sports to my Sky package?
Find out how to get even more sports added to your package.
Sports fans will surely know about the offerings provided by Sky and BT, but what you may not know is how to access one or the other if you’re already with one.
Check out our guide which will help you understand how you can add TNT Sports to your Sky package - and don’t worry, TNT Sports isn’t a completely different service to research. We’ll give you the full rundown right here.
What is TNT Sports?
TNT Sports, formally known as BT Sport, is the home for sports on EE TV (formally BT TV). They have exclusive rights to many sports and leagues, including Champions League, Europa League and Europa Conference League football, UFC, WWE, MotoGP and more.
It also hosts over 50 Premier League games his season, most notably the early kickoffs on Saturdays.
TNT Sports also includes Eurosport, which features more exclusive sports and shows live events such as the annual 24 Hours of Le Mans and EuroLeague basketball.
Is TNT Sports BT?
Yes, for the most part. TNT Sports is the rebranded BT Sport and still falls under BT’s TV services.
However, the reason for the name change is due to the joint venture between BT Group and Warner Bros. Discovery that saw the two combine their sports broadcasting operations, bringing together BT Sport and Eurosport UK.
The joint venture’s aim is to expand TNT’s brand recognition by bringing its sports programming to other regions. Warner Bros. Discovery and its various divisions have a long history of sports programming in the US and paired with BT Sport, they are able to deliver more of said programming to the growing market in the UK for many of these US sports.
This also means they are competing with Sky Sports for coverage of sports, hence why they regained the rights to the NBA prior to the start of this season, as the broadcasting rights were previously held by Sky Sports.
Who owns TNT Sports?
TNT Sports is owned by BT Group and Warner Bros. Discovery Sports Europe as part of their joint venture.
The channels were first established by BT Sport back in 2013, while the merger was agreed and approved in 2022, with the rebranded TNT Sports coming into fruition in July 2023.
Is TNT Sports the same as Sky Sports?
No, TNT Sports is not the same as Sky Sports. While the concept of sports broadcasting is the same, the two channels are different in the programming that they show.
Both have a range of exclusive sports, like the ones listed earlier for TNT Sports. Sky Sports also has a vast variety of exclusive sports, such as PGA Tour golf, ATP and WTA tennis and the NFL.
Can I add TNT Sports to my Sky package?
TNT Sports can be added to your Sky packages as an optional add-on TV pack. You don’t need to purchase a Sky Sports package or add Sky Sports as an optional add-on to add TNT Sports to your package.
The TNT Sports TV pack add-on is available on a 31-day rolling contract.
How much is TNT Sports on Sky?
The TNT Sports TV pack add-on is currently available for £26 a month for 18 months. This is correct as of 03/04/2023.
The standard price per month is £30, which is how much it would cost after the initial 18-month period.
You can cancel your add-on anytime you like by contacting Sky, but you have to give 31 days notice - essentially, if you are looking to cancel your add-on, you will have to pay for one more month before it is cancelled.
What are the different TNT Sports channels available?
TNT Sports has eight channels in total, which include the two Eurosport channels, TNT Sports Box Office and TNT Sports Ultimate.
The Box Office channel is for events such as boxing where you have to pay for the broadcast to watch it.
TNT Sports Ultimate is an optional add-on you can purchase through BT for high-quality 4K picture resolution, providing an unmatched viewing experience.
There are also the TNT Sports 1,2,3 and 4 channels in HD; however, they are an optional extra again that will increase your cost per month.
